The observation of the Earth from the space has been spectacularly developed in the last decade. Thus it has become a necessary allied for the monitoring of environmental processes of great impact for our planet, such as global warming, deforestation, desertification or weather change. The constant launch of Earth observation satellites has caused a continuous flow of useful information in many disciplines.
Teledetection, understood as a group of techniques to obtain information from satellite, represents in these days an important instrument at the service of the environment. Contrary to other previous techniques, Teledetection allows making an analysis of large territory surfaces and monitoring dynamic variables due to its high temporal frequency. The last technological advances have provided high-spatial resolution imagery supplying. This fact has enabled the development of applications in several work scales which are indispensable as support tool for decision-making.
GeoActio, as GIS consultant specialized in environmental issues, has proven experience in collected information processing through remote sensors. The knowledge acquired in Environmental Impact Studies projects has enabled GeoActio to become very familiar with multiple digital transformation methods (corrections, enhancements, digital classifications, plant rates…).
The main Teledetection Applications are the following:
- Mapping and Cadastre

GeoActio uses a wide range of satellites to process images and obtain its products:
- ASTER: 3 systems (VNIR, SWIR y TIR) with spatial resolution of 15 m, 30 m and 90 m.
- ENVISAT: Earth Observation during the day and night at resolutions between 30 and 300 m.
- IKONOS: White and blach imagery with a resolution of 1 m and multispectral imagery with a resolution of 4 m.
- IRS: Panchromatic camera, linear scanner and spatial resolution up to 5.8 m.
- Landsat: Spatial resolution of 30 m (60 m in the thermal mode and 15 m in panchromatic mode).
- QuickBird: Imagery with a resolution less than 1 m (in panchromatic and pansharpened mode) and 2.4 m in multispectral mode.
- SPOT: Imagery of 5 m in panchromatic mode.
